Sedona, AZ. (June 4, 2007) - For the fifth year in a row, Pink Jeep Tours is the title sponsor of Taste of Sedona; the social culinary event of the year. The event will be creekside from 4 to 8 p.m. on June 10 at Los Abrigados Resort. Taste of Sedona benefits the Boys and Girls Club with branches in Sedona, Cottonwood, Oak Creek and the Teen Center.
Shawn Wendell owner of Pink Jeep Tours served the Boys & Girls Club as a board member for seven years. "We commit to the title sponsorship year after year because it is a part of our ongoing commitment to make a difference for children in the Verde Valley through educational programs", Wendell said. "The Boys & Girls Clubs provide services that help the kids and the entire family."
Every year Pink Jeep Tours engages with elementary schools offering them an educational opportunity to experience Sedona's backcountry. The R.O.C.K.S. (Reinforcing Our Children's Knowledge of Sedona) program has become a favorite of students and teachers alike. The program offers a variety of tours that compliment school curriculum. To date, several hundred-school kids have been involved in the program.
Pink Jeep Tours has been providing Jeep tours in Sedona for over 47 years. Their commitment to stewardship of the land and their continuing philanthropy serve the community well. In 1960, Pink Jeep was the original Jeep tour company in the United States and has held a permit to operate commercially on the Coconino National Forest since the mid-70's.
As Sedona's popularity grew as a vacation destination, Pink Jeep Tours became more and more well known to visitors. Wendell, a past board member to Sedona Oak Creek Canyon Chamber of Commerce, assisted in the work of marketing Sedona and in managing Sedona's visitor population to ensure the best experience for the visitor and stewardship of the land.
The company's mission to take care of Sedona's natural resources and to exceed visitors' expectations continues to dominate their culture.
